The National Day of Action Against Bullying & Violence on August 18 reminds us all to stop and take a stand against abuse in our schools, homes and workplaces. Whether online or offline, the antidote to bullying behaviour is empathy. Of course, with our young ones growing up in the online space, they’re simply not getting the same signals that they do when face-to-face about the impact of their words and actions on another – and there’s also being emboldened by being behind a screen and posting some nasty and hurtful content that they would never do in person.
Right from the early years, we can help children to grow and show their empathy, to notice others who are not OK, and to do something about it. These Lesson Plans and their accompanying resources are a beautiful exploration of empathy and bullying prevention, and we know you’ll enjoy using them in your school context. After you sign up you’ll be re-directed to the resource page where you can download the unique Lesson Plans and resources for Years 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6.
